Your treatment for your new dentures starts with your free consultation which includes an oral examination, your existing dentures are examined in and out of your mouth. Often photographs of when you used to have your own teeth are helpful for determining denture tooth position and facial profile as well as planning for the final desired aesthetic result. Tooth shades and moulds are discussed with the patient allowing the patient to have an input in creating their own smile, some patients like their artificial teeth to be set slightly irregular, rotated or even anomalies incorporated into the tooth or teeth.
Following your consultation;
Appointment 1- Impressions of your ridges (Gums) are taken.
Appointment 2- Customised impression trays are made for a more detailed impression to be taken of your ridges (Gums).
Appointment 3
– This involves jaw measurements utilising wax blocks being tried into your mouth to determine facial support and an ideal jaw relationship. This will allow Paul to individually set your selected teeth into the wax blocks for your wax trial denture appointment.
Appointment 4
- The wax trial denture appointment is the appointment where you will see how your dentures will look, at this appointment Paul will carry out clinical speech, function and facial support checks eliminating any issues in the wax so these issues are not present in your finished dentures. The patient will be allowed plenty of time at this appointment to approve or fine tune any aesthetic aspects, sometimes patients are encouraged to return for another trial denture appointment as we understand this is an important decision which can’t be made at one appointment. It is only when the patient instructs Paul to proceed to the next stage that your wax trial denture will be processed and finished for your fit appointment.
Appointment 5
- At your fit appointment your dentures are checked again and you will receive oral health instructions including denture care.
Appointment 6
- One week after your fit appointment we encourage patients to attend for a review appointment, this appointment will allow the patient and Paul to discuss how your first week has gone wearing your new dentures.
We will contact you one year after fitting your dentures for you to attend for your oral health check-up and your dentures will be examined and re-shined in our laboratory. Dentures bed into gums after a period of time so it is not uncommon for patients to return before we contact them so we encourage patients to contact our clinic for any minor adjustments that may be required.
We are experienced specialist in this field of dentistry so why not take advantage of your free consultation and contact our clinic today, we are here to provide a service that you deserve.
